2009 BOISE FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW

Design, Installation and Project Management by Bill Vander Pol

Garden shows always choose to be challenging projects for many reasons. This project started out challenging in the design phase in trying to create something that was original, sustainable, aesthetic and constructively possible. It took some time to convince all involved that hauling tons, and tons of rock into the Grove Building would accomplish the goal we set in the beginning. Even after the first day of construction, many including other exhibitors questioned the intent. We manged to pull it off and impress many attendees at the show. I have since designed a water feature for the Idaho Botanical Garden children's garden that will reflect this design coming soon in 2010
20' x 30' pallet of carpet transformed in three days.

A well known concept for retaining walls turned into something aesthetic, functional and sustainable.

Gambion baskets filled with Boise River cobble, piped with emerging water and catch basin to provide privacy and cover sound for an intimate patio setting.

Flagstone bench with Gambion basket base.

Natural blue stone tumbled pavers.

Tulips and Azaleas for color, variegated foliage accents of Cypress and Sedges, River Birch focal point and Photinia backdrop all above a Basalt dry stack and boulder hardscape.
